The last round of the May series of the Wednesday Evening Events (WEE) took placed yesterday at Clement Wilson Park, Belfast. Jonny was the course planner this time, so it was left to Paul to fly the flag for the Average Joes and a chance to wrap up the series win. However, like Chelsea FC, the evening did not go to plan. Paul made a huge mistake on control 5 by running to the wrong part of the forest and lost over 6 minutes (dropping back to 27th place). He made up time over the next 10 controls, but lost another 2 minutes on control 16 by a silly route choice. By the end, Paul could not make up the 4.20 minutes to secure 1st place and finished 3rd. Unfortunately, this was not enough to guarantee a clean series win, but had to be content with joint 1st with Jonathan McCloy.
June’s WEE series will move down to Tollymore and Castlewellan forests.
